Kinda surprised the indy didn't run a cylinder compression leak down. It don't take much to cause a pop.

My Two Cents....

I'd still say it's the mapping on the fuel pak and your set up. I'd configure the air/pipes to a known map configuration. Something like, a Screamin Eagle or V&H air cleaner and V&H pipes with correct baffles. A configuration that's common and known to work, as opposed to something custom you're constantly trying to dial in.

Good Luck.

I've ordered the correct baffles and I'm wanting to put an arlenn Ness big sucker on it. I've spent all my extra money right now with the stuff I've already done. The indy thinks its a fuel pressure prob and wants to put guages on it to check it , but shouldn't that effect the whole rpm band and not just idle to 30%?

Not takin it back to indy. Didn't know I said I was. The fuel psi idea is what they told me when I called to tell them that they had gained nothin. In their defense or to clearer, when I took my bike to the indy , there was no fuel programmer on it as well as no baffles in the pipes. I was having a full service done as well as new fork seals installed. I asked them while home was in their shop to please double check intake seals as well as exhaust for leaks. Being I had already checked them. The said all that checked good, and like I , believed a good programmer would solve my issue. If anything , I might need better baffles. Which I have ordered. So we checked another bike at the indy which had longshots and his baffles were 4" like mine. However after researching on line , I believe original long shot baffles to b longer so I've ordered another set. I bought these longshots that ate on my bike for two reasons, #1 I like the look , #2 the hooker headers pipes that were on my bike when I bought it had the baffles removed and I wasn't having much luck finding them. Bike was running terrible with them and a pcIII that was on bike when I bought it. I've always had great luck with vance & Hines so I stick to what I know. I bought a new fuel pak and the longshots. Bike runs better but still not good. So the current tally is $200 longshots ,$697 indy shop bill,$220 new fuel pak ,$50 new baffles ,(and a lot on cycle visions bagger tail and black Harley hard bags ordered while bike was at indy's , anticipating programmer bein the answer to my problems ), and a tanker full of miller light before ,during, and after. I assure u I've not been cheap. I've done all this within last month, and just don't wanna waste more money and not cure it. A portion of the money I've spent I don't consider anyway. I'm self employed and have a business expense of $1800 by the end of the month so the money I have saved on hand will b going towards that. Once its done, its back to my Harley. I just am lookin for ideas of what else it could b. And far as my local dealer, I used to do all my business there and they were arrogant a$$"s. So I found a good indy. The next closes dealer is GREAT , but they're an hour and a half away. My bike is also still rideable, just extremely annoying when at idle or puting threw the parking lot. The hard bags look ridiculously great on there (best mod I've done so far ) , I'm just wanting to get this girl running like she should. I have plans of cam upgrades in the not to distant future if I can get this lined out. I'm also a mechanicly inclined person, but when I can't figure it out , I call in back up. Thanks again fellas for the help.

He has metioned the fuel psi check because of a fuel line issue he has seen in the tanks I believe. And from my systems , and the searches I've done on this forum, it sounds like a fairly good chance that could b the prob. Along with the other 10 things it could b it sounds like. Lol

I've also heard about the 'fuel line leak inside the tank' problem. Don't know if it involves your bike but worth looking into. I tried different plugs once. They were supposed to be for my bike but it still had a miss and rough idle. Put the original ones back in and it was fine. I would try a new set of HD plugs specific for your bike . Also check your plug wires with an ohm meter. Could be a coil also. Being you bought the bike with a lot of 'accessories' someone else put on ... god only knows what he did. May be why he sold it . I would replace all aftermarket stuff with HD to rule out this stuff. Once you get it running right then do your upgrades. I also agree with doing a compression test and cylinder leak down test .
Good Luck ...

Ok. Learned more info tonight. My bike DOES have the 25 degree injectors in it! So that's a big plus. An led flashlight and a quick peak rulled that prob out. Now, cold start up then gradually letting it warm up , then when heads were warm to touch I gave just off throttle to maybe 20% throttle and I'm gettin wicked blue flame back fire out of front cylinder pipe. Sounds like firecracker and shoots flame bout 3-4" out pipe. Just front cylinder. Had wife hold throttle and got down and looked up pipes. Blue flames in both header pipes, but only full back fire all the way down and out front cylinder pipe. Also noticed header pipes getting pretty cherry red with minimal to no throttle in shop on jack ? Normal once warmed up? Never noticed on other bikes. Maybe at wot for some time but not at idle or 20% for a couple minutes ? Thoughts? Thanks again fellas.

Back when I had a FuelPak, I had a decel pop. I called V&H tech line, they gave me a different map to load. The new map took care of it. Have you tried calling them, yet? I know some people had issues with the throttle position censor. I would check it and the crank position sensor.
In the end, you could have an ECM issue. Do you know anyone with an ECM laying around? To bad you are not around me, I would let you use the one laying on my bench.
I hate taking stuff to the dealer, but it maybe time.
