Does thinkness of passenger seat really matter?
Ok this i thought was a simple and obvious! But what makes the rear seat comfy is it thickness, shape, design, shape and size of the passenger or what? Reason im asking is i bought the Fatboy Lo last year over other models cause i thought it was more comfy! BUT the wife says its not really that comfy on the back! I was like are you kidding me look how thick that seat is! She said ya i know but it feels too Hard! So i m thinking maybe it has to get broke in! But even my Night train didnt have to get broke in and she was comfy on that and that had the stock Badlander seat which is alot thiner for the passenger!!! So whats up with that! Does thickness of the seat not matter?

I have the Deluxe, and the stock passenger pillion was way too narrow for any long distance rides with my wife. She's 6' and skinny. So I bought the touring pillion, which even though wider, still sucked.
Found out when at the Easyrider show, one of the seat makers operates out of my lil town. So one night after work I stopped by and chatted with the owner. Decided to go with their memory foam. Had my seat done as well. Now the wife loves her seat and I am very happy with mine. I was also told even though we now have memory foam, there is still a break in period. With the stock pillion we made frequent stops for her to stretch, with the stock touring pillion, not so much. Now she is fine stopping when I need or want to.

Having listened to my wife complain after her first 600+ mile day on the back of my old FXR with a gunfighter seat, here's my list in order of importance:
1) Width
2) Padding material
3) Padding thickness
4) Proper shock settings so you don't bottom out all the time
Ok, the last one had nothing to do with the seat itself, but it does make a huge difference on her comfort! And as we all know...If mom ain't happy, ain't no one happy!

Even though they are quite a distance from you, you might want to ring them up and get some info. Then find someone close to you to make the switch. I wish I had done this years ago. They even made me (copied) a Springer high backrest which is real nice on a long ride. Check them out here: http://www.harleyseats.com/
