Best way to wash and clean my bike?
#12
I like any of the major brands of car soap (mothers,Meguire's,Autoglym).
Wash out of the sun, ensure paint is cool to the touch.
Clean the wheels w/ appropriate wheel cleaner.
My new personal fave....blow dry with "Air force blaster" (no water spots/streaks).
Then polish 'till your hearts content.
My uncoated alum. wheels get polished at the end with mothers alum polish and polishing wheel (once or twice a year).
*never mistake chrome and aluminum polish.....BIG MISTAKE!
I prefer a synthetic wax on the bike, not quite as shiny (IMHO) but slightly more durable.

[QUOTE=RLE;9755442]Yea, that's what I thought too! I do have a fairly solid hold on common sense and I was merely mentioning that I have seen this on YouTube. Laundry soap wouldn't be an option for me though!
Ok guys, thanks a lot and all your comment are appreciated! G

I won't let anyone else touch my bike. Bikini girls are nice to look at but I'm not going to trust them with my scoot. No thanks, I'll do it myself. I use Maguires car wash soap. I have a microfiber sponge for the tins and a soft brush for everything else. I rinse thoroughly and blow dry with my dedicated leaf blower. Then I clay the tins. Rinse again. Dry again. I use Ice to wax it. Then a nice soft microfibre towel to shine it all up. In between washes I orange Pledge it. Use Mothers metal polish on the aluminum when it starts to look dull. The chrome gets Windex and a microfiber towel.

The only part I have trouble with is the front and bottom of the engine. It usually has a lot of bugs, dirt, and grime from the 1/2 mile of dirt sand gravel road that gets me from my house to the hiway. I have to use soap and water, plus a brush of some sort to get it clean. A 4" paint brush works pretty well. The rest of the bike gets clean with soap and water, and a wash mit. I rinse it good, chamois it off, and go for a ride to blow off the rest. I only wash it maybe twice a year, more to look things over than to get it clean. I like to ride instead of clean, and it only stays clean for one day after I wash it anyway. It sure is purty for a day or so though.

Just as an afterthought, I had a German NSU SuperFox 125 when I got out of high school back in the late 50's, and they said to coat the whole bike with a thin film of motor oil instead of wax. It did have a beautiful paint job, but the oil film sure collected dust in a hurry. Never did have any rust on it though.

Keep the bike wash girls away from your bike. Watch them mess up someone else bike..
Just wash it it is no big deal dry it with clean micro fiber cloth to reduce spots.
If you want to try a really good spray on bike wash
Wizards is amazing but you stll need to use a wash colth on it use the stuff sparingly it goes a long way.
