Default got in an accident today

I was out for a ride today on my sporty. Had a clear as day green light and was going through an intersection and some old lady decided to run the red. I was lucky enough to not get hit, but tried to swerve and avoid it. Ended up catching the side of her car. Never went over the front of the bars, but did hit pretty hard. Looks like the front end is messed up, the gas tank is dented, the rear turn signal and fender is messed up too.

Never been in a motorcycle accident with another person, so looking for some advice.

I have a few friends who said just bring it to harley(friends with the dealer guys too)

I appear to be ok too, but i am getting xrays to be sure.

stay safe!

Glad you're ok. The bike can be fixed. Is Illinois a fault or no fault state?

You shared insurance information at the site and a LEO did an accident report?

illinois is an at fault state. she has state farm(great company to deal with)

The police officer is not only a family friend, but a personal friend.

i am just wondering if they will total out the bike though.

They might if the front end is damaged enough to suspect a bent frame.

no frame damage at least that i could find. I am going to take another loook when i get home.

from what i saw when i rode it home(1 mile) the bars are bent, the front brake did not work well, the mirrors just flop around, the rear fender got a huge dent when the turn signal broke, the tank got a decent dent in it, the front fender looks bent, but might be due to the forks being bent, the hand controls are also a bit bent too.

It is all stuff i can fix on my own, but since its her bill now, not going to happen.

the bike seems mechanically fine as well too. shifts through all gears, and no weird noises yet.

Mikey, glad you are OK. Tell your insurance company or lawyer, to find out when her last eye exam was. I am an optometrist, and there are a lot of blind people driving.

I just passed a yuppie in his Infinity, going 5mph under the speed limit, texting, looking down at his lap. Ugh!

Crazy out there!

Good luck getting your bike fixed or getting a new one.

Glad you are here to tell us about it. Most accidents like that don't turn out so well.
