cometic gasket
Ordered a shifter shaft seal from Cometic gasket on 12/18/06. Salesman said it would be 1.84 plus shipping. I said O. K. send it out. Recieved it about 4 days later. To my surprise this 1/2 oz. seal came in a box the size of a Kleenex box and shipping was $ 9.95. WTF. So I called UPS and asked them what it should have cost to ship a box under 1 lb. from Ohio to central Ne. I was quoted $ 6.86. HMMMM. Called Cometic and they were very nice and explained it should not have been shipped like that and were only in the gasket business, not shipping. Couldn't really explain the price differance.Offered me a $5 credit on my next order. The seal looks to be of excellent quality and I would order from them again. Just inquire into shipping first.

RE: cometic gasket
Cometic is getting a lot of kudos in the muscle car/ performance car arena, they have some good products. As for shipping, they could have put the thing in a Priority Mail box at the post office and sent it for $4.15. It seems that anymore companies don't give a rat's *** what it costs to ship something and just go with what's convenient for them. At least Cometic made some kind of concession for it.

RE: cometic gasket
on the outlaw BBC with 3 stages of nitrous, old school thinkin was to o-ring the block and use a copper gasket with some hylomar around the water ports....when we began using Cometic head gaskets, no more o-ringin, no more blown gaskets....at 15 to 1 PLUS 1100hp shot of juice those gaskets are the $hit....learned about em first from the PRO 5.0 turbo guys....if they will hold that kind of cylinder pressure, they'll damn sure hold our HD stuff
