I've had my sportster for 1 and a half years, and have put 10,000 miles on it...
but i admittingly never saw 1,000... because i bought it with 14k

I agree, touring bikes make the desert southwest much nicer to tour. I hit a new thousand mark almost 20 times every year.

There was some flooding in Western Washington while the Salmon were running and they were swimming across the roads. There are videos on Youtube showing it, crazy ****.
