I have been using S for years & no problem. Wanna know what you did wrong?

OK--WHY would you use something that was only designed to clean greasy undercarriages with on your HANDLEBARS, SHOCKS OR SISSY BAR? Did you go 4 wheelin' with your bike? S-100 is meant to be used like Gunk--on greasy COLD engine parts & frame undercarriages-- It is NOT a bike wash--it's a degreaser. Handlebars don't get that dirty. I don't think I've EVER washed my handlebars or sissy bar--just a wipedown with a rag & some detailer. And I rarely need to use the S-100--have had the same bottle for years. Spray on cold motor & immediately hose off with copious amounts of water--dry, then follow with S-100 engine brightener spray. That's all it is for. And if your motor ain't greasy or dirty--don't use it!

IMHO, S-100 makes the best products of their kind available. See how nice my motor looks!

Not sure what S100 product you are using Dickey but S100 Total Cycle Cleaner is for the whole bike not just a dirty engine. I usually only use it on my front forks, engine and wheels but I have sprayed it all over the bike before and it didn't hurt anything.

I also use the Total Cycle cleaner on my whole bike! Looks like a million bucks in very short order. Key is to follow instructions, ie Rinse well and immediately with....Copious (Thanks dickey )amounts of water!

I tried it once and threw it away. And yes, I read the instructions but in my opinion, anything that acidic and requires that much care is silly to use on an expensive bike.

I just went back to using a decent car soap. Works perfectly, and a WHOLE lot less expensive.

So dish soap which is mild enough to use with bare hands is bad, but a caustic product that must be rinsed immediately with "copious" amounts of water is OK. I get it, someone is making a lot of money with arguments like that.

Dawn....gentle enough to clean your hands and baby seals, but dangerous to your automobile

So I thought I'd give S100 another try and followed the instructions exactly. It still stained my handlebars. I wrote the company an email explaining my case and how I had thought S100 "ruined" my bike. They sent several products right away and basically, the prodcucts worked and my handlebars, mirrors, and shocks are all back to normal again. I'm not sure if I'll use the Total Cleaner again, but I do have to say that the company is stand up in my book and I would recommend any of the other products.
