Nicely written. A small tri-pod comes in handy if you've had too much caffeine.

IrfanView and GIMP are two free programs that also allow tweaking the pictures.

Good article. Very true - lighting and angle are very important along with back ground.

I have taken alot of pics just with my phone that have come out great (I think lol)

tip 1- if you are taking a side shot of your bike and have the time (usually a right side shot) try to get the bike as level as possible by sliding a piece of wood or hockey puck etc.. under the kickstand You can see in the 2nd pic below that if I would have followed my own advice it would have been a way cleaner shot (mainly bottom frame below exhaust) (just be real careful you don't go too straight up and down and tip yer bike!)

tip 2 - straighten the front tire

tip 3 - as for taking pics at chest level - I actually take almost all pics of bikes (and dogs haha) from my knees.

tip 4 - play around with editing - it's free and takes seconds to change colors, add borders etc.. and just do fun **** to pics (and you can always change it back if you don't like it)

here's a few to share that are "phone pics" and one at the end with an actual camera.

Digital is king. I remember having to wait for photos to be developed and finding that some didn't proof or were distorted by glare. An old news photographer told me there is no such thing as wasted film but there is wasted opportunity. Good job Shu.

Nice write up. Aside from riding, photography and brewing beer are my two other passions.
