curious what shoes does everyone wear

Bates boots. About $80. Surprisingly light and comfortable.
If I'm going on a short ride but spending the afternoon running around, it would just be a good pair of running/gym shoes with good rubber.

Redwings lace-ups for several reasons, first you can still get several styles made in America , they are tough and comfortable , and I am 58 years old I have earned my "wings"

If you have a Big 5 sporting goods store near you, they often have sale prices on Response Gear 6" or 8" side zip boots. Easy to get on and off and fairly comfy. At least you won't spend much breaking them in and see if they work for you. Good pair of boots should be comfy off the bike too.
Seems like the H-D boots are most peoples last choice, and not because of the price.

HD Lynx boots. They are waterproof. Comfortable for walking too. Not steel toe, which would be nice.
Have Red Wings, but they aren't waterproof, or as comfortable. Might need to break them in more. Used to wear Cowboy boots, but wanted a lug sole.

I wear these heavy boots or my sneakers. But I just ordered a pair of Timberland Chocorua Hiker boots. They're supposed to be light and have decent reviews. $75 isn't a huge investment. I'll spray them to make sure they're waterproof.
