Ducati Monster, nicest one I could find. If it has to be HD, I would find the lowest mileage big twin I could find. Dyna/FXR would be my first choice, although if you could find an old EVO police bagger that would be a good bike.

You can buy a new sportster for that or a very clean used one with low miles.

Honda Trail 90....use the rest of your money for a custom paint job, new tires etc.

'98 EVO. I'm partial but I can't knock the reliability of this bike. It puts out like a NY tramp day in and day out. I have the superglide and it does all that I need. You should find one +/- 10K miles for +/- $8K.

1. Buy a repaired harley with a salvage title. do a google search
2. 2004-2005 Superglide for 9K. Put 6k down, finance the rest and the money you set aside, use to customize.
3. Sporty is a waste of money. Majority of folks that get one, trade up within a year.
4. Jap bikes are a waste of time.

Thanks for all the input so far, keep it coming. You guys have got to be kidding about Jap bikes. This is a HD forum, figured that one was a given.
