Default What would you have done?

Hey guys....

So... I bought my bike 1.5 years ago from the dealer closest to where I live. Was very happy with the deal and service I received. Part of the deal was a 10% discount on parts for a year (pretty standard, if not a little low). I've spent a little over 5K in parts from them and spent quite a lot in labor having things installed that I couldn't do myself.

I recently decided to add all LED lights to my bike (Headlight/passing lights, turn signals and break light). I asked the dealer if they could put together a package and extend my 10% discount for this purchase (about $1400 list)... Well... the answer was no. They would only sell to me for list and wouldn't discount at all unless my parts order was over $2,000. I was quite surprised by this after all the money I spent there. Even at 10% off, they would still make money off the deal. I told them I'd wait for a sale and left....

Ended up going to another dealer 40 miles away (was a nice day for a ride). Asked them if they would put together a package for the lights... I've never bought anything from this dealer before.... 10% discount was offered right away for about $120 in savings.... I bought them on site. All but two lights were in stock and they will be in in 5 days. Can't wait to get them all installed... The smoked turn/break lights are gonna look great!

Now, I am talking to these guys about doing a 103 upgrade with SE255 cams. They said they would let me know when they are running service specials (as I don't need this done right away).

What would you have done?

Same thing. Loyalty works both ways.

Yeah, you drove over to the next town and saved 120 bucks. Sounds good to me.

Sending a letter may make you feel better but I bet it will have little effect on the way the dealership operates. Some businesses just plain show more appreciation for their customers than others. Those that act like they like me get my business.

Wouldn't give it a second thought, whoever gives me the best deal gets my business. I've purchased parts at one dealership and had installed at another.
