That's a no brainer.

Our dealer give life time 15% off parts if U keep up the HOG membership. but on small buys I still buy from a dealer that's 40 miles closer.

I usually look online. No sales tax and less expensive. Free shipping or decent cost if buying more than a few items.
Still come out way ahead instead of buying here in CA.

I still pay MSRP locally for some items, but like saving when I can.

I'd find an indy wrench & pay 30% less. Or dive in & do it myself.

Same here. The only thing I'd spend $1K on for my bike is its replacement.

When I bought my 2011 Ultra Classic, the dealer gave me permanant 10% discount.

Also, I just recently went in with a list of items I wanted to purchase (about $1,000.00 worth). I had done some research and found I could save another $129 over and above the 10% by shopping online. After a bit of haggling I was able to get them to price match. Dealer made up some of the losses on labor @ $85/hour and kept a customer satisfied. I'd call it a win for both of us.

There's no customer like a new customer. Never forget that dealers are out there to make money, period. There is no loyalty no matter how they pretend there is. This other dealer will likely do the same thing after a while. Almost every company has initial offers, special deals for new customers, etc... It's all BS to get you there. Once they have you, they could care less. People who are loyal and know what loyalty is, have a hard time understanding people or companies that have no concept of it.

can i get in on the beer too?

i would have done the same thing that you did. i also wouldn't bother riding in to the first dealer to show him what you bought elsewhere, that doesn't do anyone any good.
