I'm guessing the first accident/death will cause a deafening drum beat to re-instate the law.

If you purchase the medical, you could also carry the declaration sheet showing the coverage has been added. If you have medical insurance, I'd assume the card would suffice.

I agree 100%. What kills me is the fact that people have been zipping around on mopeds helmet free forever. These people are in trafic at the same speeds as bikes in and around town.

The medical coverage will increase insurance rates which kind of blows.

So if I have medical insurance thru work I don't have to carry it thru my motorcycle insurance company?

I called my cycle ins. carrier.....they did not know so I added it to my policy temporarily until I am sure.

So how does this affect out of state riders?

Are riders from other states going to be pulled over if not wearing helmets and ticketed if they don't have the extra coverage--even if not required by the state they are registered in?

Just curious, as I'm planning a ride from VA to the UP for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary in June.
