Default Newbie here. Question about tires.

I am hoping I didn't make a big mistake but I recently bought a new bike and while cleaning it I decided to use Turtle Wax Ice Synthetic tire shine on the tires. It is a spray that said to spray it on and let dry itself. Well after doing so I happened to notice in small print on the back something about not using on two wheel vehicles. Now I've read things about people wiping out from slippery tires from doing this. My question is how do I correct this mistake or will it be ok? I feel like a complete idiot and am not sure what to do from here. Any help is appreciated.

Wash it off with dish soap and water, and take it easy for the first ride, you pretty much put grease on your tires.

Or take some 80 grit sandpaper to it.

Heck, just wipe them down with a good solvent. Acetone would work fine.

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it even though I feel like an idiot for doing this. I had no idea this stuff would have this kind of effect on the tires.

My ex brother-in-law didn't either. He sprayed the tread part of the tires on his wife's car and she was f'd. They live on a steep hill & she said it was like driving on ice!

I agree about using dish detergent & taking it easy on your 1st couple of miles afterward.

BTW, don't beat yourself up. As long as you learned something from it, you'll benefit from the experience!

I spray it on a rag and make sure to only get the sidewalls with it.

Glad you didn't ride on those before you read the bottle or asked here. I never use tire shine on my bike. My cars either for that matter. I do use Bleech-White to clean the tires though. Makes the white whiter and the black look more like a brand new tire.

Best hope you don't get any water on the sidewall and wash it into the tread before it completly washes away, pulling that front brake could get interesting real fast!!

It''s best not to use any tire shine product on a bike.
