Bike dies when giving throttle carb rebuilt because of stuck float also lots of slack in return cable idles perfect xl883 1988 cv carb

 

What was it doing before rebuild. Who did rebuild. Will they do it over. Have they ever rebuilt a harley carb before.

 

Your parts and service manuals will show you what you need to know. Otherwise you're just guessing, maybe guessing wrong.

 

Did you pull the intake off? if you did, you might have an unseated intake gasket. When you twist the wick, do you see raw fuel being sprayed into the throat of the carb? depending on how much or how little which is my guess, you have to adjust the linkage on your accelerator pump.
Did you re install your VOES via the main vacuum line to the back of your carb or intake?

Does it pop when giving it gas? I had a sporty that did that after a jet change.
Turned out to be a leaky intake.

 

Sounds like float level is too low now. Adjust float level. Adjust slack out of throttle cable.
