Default Brakelight modulator

I'm looking at the JP cycles catalog and all I see is the Back-off brake light module...is that it? Do I want the regular or XP? (The XP you have a choice of the modulation repeating or steady lights after the modulation)

You don't want either of them, the one I have was a tad expensive but you didn't have to cut any wires.
I will let you know who made mine,(bike is in shop) tomorrow.

I have the XP on both our bikes...works fine for me. Cutting wires wasn't a big deal for me...I use it in the 5 flash/then steady mode...

I never said cutting wires wasn't a big deal, however it is a very ugly way of installing a product.
If you were to buy the modulator that you are talking about you should deal directly with Signal Dymanics, they are great people to work with.
I had a problem with an LED product and they replaced it no questions asked.
I will call the shop today and get you the name of my modulator for you.

I got mine from these folks:

I got both the front and rear modulators. Definitely makes a positive difference in being seen.

Good luck!!

Most, if not all of the flasher type systems seem to work best with LED tail lights. Not because they are brighter, which some definatly are, but because they go "on" almost instantly where a standard bulb takes time to heat up.
Turn the power on and off too fast with a normal bulb and it never has a chance to even start glowing, let alone get up to full brightness. Slow the pulse rate down to where it has enough time to fully illuminate and it defeats the whole idea, and it just looks like your playing with the brake lever or pedal.

I've had other types of brake modulators on my bikes in the past but the ones I prefer now are the bulb replacement type like below:
http://www.kisantech.com/index.php?cat_id=3
I have the 30w-D model on my Street Glide.

My second choice would be the Hyper Lites on their license plate mount.

Here is the website for Signal Dynamics --- http://www.signaldynamics.com/ as I said they are great to deal with since you are leaving the middle man out.

Here is a good "How -To" about making yourself seen http://www.moccsplace.com/images/blight/blight.htm

I took it one step further while using "Custom Dynamics" lights they are the brightest and cleanest --- http://www.customdynamics.com/flex_led_array.htm

And last but not least, the modulator that I am using is from "Badlands",I had nothing but problems with the product I used before I was turned onto their units. They may be a little pricy, but you get what you pay for. ---- http://www.badlandsmotorcycleproduct...LECTRONICS.htm

"Update" --- It appears that Badlands quit making the modulator,I guess it's up to Signal Dyanmics.

I hope this helps, everyone should check out the ideas given on the second and third websites I really like the Flexable lighting products.

Enjoy!
