Clean or ride your bike more?

Maybe back in the old days when cleaning a bike meant getting out the bucket, hose supplies and towels and on and on. This was work.
Run by walmart or autozone and pick up a meguiars quik spray wax and go to work for only 10 minutes. That's it. You paid 20K and up for your bike and
you take pride in an annual car wash and wax.
When I was a young lad and saw that loud, bright Harley with a carefree rider rolling down the road I said that's what I want. Us and our bikes are the gateway to future riders. I know it's silly, but I want future riders to experience the joy I get when I'm ridin my hog.

I ride more than wash, Just washed mine after a month, to be honest I dont ride in the rain if I can help it and it only got the wash after I got caught in a shower on the motoway. I spend about 2 hrs cleaning when I do and I use a lot of tips picked up on the forum. I also tend to used my bike for travel to and from work. I have a 2009 Fatty with just under 15,000 miles, one of my colleagues has a 2006 Fatty with 6,000 miles and I get nothing but stick because I use my bike as often as possible.
It still looks good though despite the use. FYI, in the UK only a small number of riders use their HD's like I do and generaly we are considered to be quite mad.

I do however usually clean my windshield about every day I ride, otherwise I would not be able to see.

I gotta laugh when I see guys saying they let the rain wash their bikes ... I ride in the rain quite a bit and the rain does not wash a bike ... or at least it doesn't wash mine ...
I always end up with a nasty road spray soup splattered on my exhaust heat shields and the lower front of my frame, motor and primary ... and my swingarm, rear wheel, saddlebags and rear fender also get a good dose of it ... does not look all clean and shiny ...
I don't like to clean often ... a couple (two or three or four) times a year depending on how I feel and how busy I am, I'll give it a pretty good cleaning ... at least once a year, late winter/early spring I try to give it a good cleaning and put on nu finish ... makes subsequent cleanings go a little quicker ... I've got a shelf full of cleaning/wax gear most of which I've tried once or twice and am not really sold on ...
I do what I can to keep it more or less presentable ... but, I don't let it get me down ... I fall into the ride way more than clean camp ...
