IN md you have a title but it is stamped with a leinholder designation. once paid off you get a Security of Interest Filing.

Two weeks is still in the process time i would think. Its a shame you didn't get bank info from him.. Name, account etc..

You do know where he lives don't you. I wouldn't contact a lawyer at this point, they cost money, i would call the cops, they work for you.

Yeah, I've been to his house, done some checking, he seems legit. Not shady, elusive, or trying to hide. Until today that is, no call back, that's why I started to worry.
I appreciate all the stories. I still feel like I F'ed up monumentally and could be taken advantage of... I'll hold off on lawyer till its impossible that it's just procedural delays. Maybe head down to the cop shop tomorrow...

AAARGHHH! Never again!

What if he reports the bike stolen and tells the cops he has never seen you before and shows them his clear title (that you paid for)? You didn't give him cash, did you? It's a fair question since you haven't exactly been Donald Trump so far....

You might want to talk to po-po to document this. They won't take a report but you can at least confirm that you are on the up n up..... It will also make it easier to find you when the bank repo's the bike! hahaha j/k...

Hope everything turns out ok. Your not in a great position legally but you do have a bill of sale. As long as this guy is legit you'll be ok & learned a valuable lesson. Two weeks isn't much time but in another week or so I would start worrying.
Keep us posted. Fingers crossed!

I agree, it's way too early to panic.
