It could be the caustic nature of what you used. It can harm aluminum and tarnish some chrome. There are degrees of chrome finish too, single or double dip. I would rewash the bike and wipe it off, most of the advice your getting seems on the mark.

looks like hard water stains to me also. i won't wash any vehicles at my house after the first time i washed our hudson when we first moved in 15 yrs ago.. i washed the car, let it drip dry while i went inside to get something to drink. when i came out it had very similar stains.. my jaw about hit the grd and i almost cried looking at the spotted stained laquer paint.. it took a lot of wet sanding to get it back to show quality shine.

The best thing in the world for cleaning chrome is Stoner's Invisible glass cleaner in the aerosol can. I've been using it for years on everything chrome that I own.

I did the same thing 25 years ago when I sprayed Wheel Bright on a brand new set of aluminum Weld Racing Wheels. I had to polish for hours, I thought my arm would fall off. Get to polishing and it will take that sick feeling away.

I don't get why HD doesn't clear their polished aluminum from the factory.. just stupid to me. somethings might be ok, a small bracket here, a housing there.. but not major components like eng parts and wheels.

I'd try a little dremel tool w/polish bonnet...get some good chrome polish & try to slowly work it out. Good luck - did you call the manufacturer of that awesome cleaner???
