I will not ride without ear plugs...
I have been using ear plugs for about 10 years. Yesterday I hopped on the bike just to ride a mile to my friends place, I was in a hurry and did not put the plugs in. Never again.
The mile ride sucked, wind, mechanical noise and even with stock pipes my ears were ringing. The ride home had me thinking, I would quit riding motorcycles if it were not for ear plugs.
I rode with drags and TH, Scorpion and Cobras, loud pipes might save lives but being deaf is no fun. It actually hurts. Tinnitus and headaches take the fun out of the run.
I wish I had worn ear protection in my youth. If it is not too late for you, consider at least foam plugs every time you ride. Once you get used to them you will never ride without.
I use them any time I am exposed to noise. Cutting the grass, at the range and especially if I am riding with others. Buy stock in Hearing Aid Companies, believe me the market is going to be HUGE.
This is a public service thread. Advice from an older guy. Save your hearing or, SAY WHAT?
I can still read but I can't hear sht. Can you hear me?

Tinnitus, which was supposedly incurable, is now able to be helped with good results as of late, from dietary supplements. Read up on it.

Played in a lot of bands in my teens & 20's before IEM's came out and have a LOT of regrets about it. Young & dumb and we thought that not being able to hear for a day after the show, meant it was a good show!
These days, anytime I'm around noise, I try to protect what's left of my hearing. Riding - 3/4 helmet. Gun range - headset. Concerts/music - Hearos earplugs - these things are GREAT and they have models that would work well while riding.

Many years on the flight deck has my hearing less than I'd like. Now, I put them in every time the bike fires up.

Ive found thay with properly worn earplugs I actually hear less wind, more rumble, so saving your hearing doesnt have to be a chore. This goes for half helmet and full face ....although if you like to blast everyone with your CD collection the ear plugs wont be you.
