Default Textile jacket

I've been knocking around wearing a non leather riding jacket. The problem is most styles look like you have to be a safety concious BMW adventure rider with odd colors and relective piping.

I like the idea of having a waterproof jacket and the ability to open some vents in hot weather. I have seen the perforated (mesh) jackets and I'm not crazy about the look or the fact they are warm weather only.

Anyway, If anyone has been wearing a textile jacket that is similiar to what I'm after could you respond and I'll check your jacket out. Also If you have one but don't like a particular aspect of it let me know what to watch out for.

Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the FIRST GEAR "Kenya" jacket. I bought one a month ago and love it. It's very similar to a First Gear leather jacket I got 15 yrs ago. It's basic black, removable insulted liner, plenty of zippered vents, waterproof with a lot of hidden pockets. Be aware that they run small...I'm 6'2" 206 lbs and I needed a 2xl Tall.
I bought mine from Revzilla. It was around $250. Their service was outstanding. After discussing sizing with their salesman, we realized that he and I were about the same size. He offered to physically check that they had my size in stock and tried it on himself, to make sure it would fit right. I received it in two days and was a perfect fit. I've worn it at 40* with just a turtle neck shirt and was very comfortable in it. AL

Check out leatherup.com I bought one from them that has zipout lining, removeable armor, and vented zippers for 70 bucks. It's black with a couple of orange stripes down the sleeves but they have plain black ones too. They run about one size small so if you wear a medium order a large.

I wear the Tour Master Sonora Jacket (in black). I haven't wore my Fox Creek leathers since.

I have the Tourmaster Air Intake. It has 2 liners, a waterproof and quilted. Wore it on a trip to WV last October with morning temperatures in the 30's and was comfortable with just a long sleeved t-shirt on. Without the waterproof liner, also wind proof, and just the quilted liner in, it's good to mid 40's to 60+-. When it's hot/warmer, the mesh breathes real good and gives some armor protection without being restrictive. Comes in a variety of colors, I have the white/black, GF got the silver/black.

Some reflective piping but so does my HD FXRG and doesn't emblazon itself with names like the Icon jackets do.

I've done the textile thing and there's a lot of good ones out there, my favorite is Aerostitch's Darien but, last year I got an FXRG midweight leather jacket. It is without a doubt the best riding jacket that I've had. It's waterproof, has an excellent liner and is cool with the vents open up to almost 90. It's expensive but, good gear is.

Check out the Poker Run line. They have a triditional biker look textile jacket. Also the HD 3 in 1 Reflective Skull Switchback. It is a textile jacket that has zip off panels that turn it into a mesh jacket. Soooo worth it. here is the link. http://www.harley-davidson.com/mcm/m...bmLocale=en_US
