Default Mixing 91 octane fuel with 92

I usually go for the fuel that's farthest right. Mostly, it's 91 octane in Minnesota. However, I had about a quarter tank of fuel left after a hard, tiring ride. I decided to fuel up for the next days ride.

As I was BSing with some of the guys, I realized I was putting in 92 instead of 91. I stopped and realized the 92 was the farthest right and there was no 91. Turns out, few of the northern gas stations where we were had 91, just 92. Some of the guys told me it's fine and I noticed no difference the next day as I emptied out that tank on the ride. Bike sounded and smelt fine.

Does mixing 91 and 92 hurt the bike at all? Does anyone else do it?

Never mixed octanes, but it won't hurt anything. I usually use 91 but I've put in 89 a few times to see if it would make a difference, and it didn't.

I see. 87 and 89 are common here but depends where you are. Some stations have 91...some have 92 so if I tried to avoid mixing octanes, I may run out of fuel looking for a place with 91 or vice versa.

Thanks.

You're joking right. 91 or 92 octane. Mixing the two? Are you also afraid of mixing oils? 220 or 221. Whatever it takes.

If it helps, I'm also "afraid" of mixing cake batter with SKIM milk.

Dangerous stuff, man.

You have done major damage to that engine , contaminated the entire fuel system .
best to get rid of the bike ,trade for a new one before it craters

Most gas stations mix 87 and 93 at the pump to make there own 89, its called blending and its more economical for the stations to do it. So no it wont hurt anything.

I always put the highest octane available when filling up. I also try to go to stations that sell a lot of gas. That way you know your not getting Premium that has been sitting in the tank for several weeks...not that it matters that much.

BTW, mixing octane grades does nothing to your bike.

Damn. That sucks to hear.

Can't I put something like sugar in my engine and absorb all the gas?

Also, thanks to the responses. Wasn't quite sure. I've only dealt with 87 and on/off road diesel.
