RE: Harley or BMW
What I like about my RK Custom over the Beemers (just sold a K1200GT) is this:
When stuff starts scraping in the corners on my King I'm only going about 10 mph over the speed limit. When stuff started scraping on the GT, I was either going 50 mph over the limit, or I'd crashed .
Seriously, the King gives me riding thrills at sane speeds. You won't get that on a beemer.

...Granted they (Beemers)are extremely reliable machines and the boxer engine will run forever. But with that said, if you break down in the wrong part of the country you're screwed.Too manystories about breaking down on a tour and having to rent a U-Haul to get their bike to a dealer hundreds of miles awayor bring it home...

I've never owned a BMW, but my best friend is a beemer snob (I say that affectionately ) and I rode his old R1100RTmany times. We logged thousands of miles together over the years and while his Beemer never left him stranded, he had the "Bing Ding" (thumping one or both of the Bing carbs with whatever tool was handy to makethem work right) down to an art. And I found the side-to-side"Boxer shuffle" almost as entertaining as the vibeson arubber-mounted Harley.
While they don't do for me what a Harley does, I firmly believe (in the case of the Boxers) they have much more "soul" than any jap bike...

My last 5 bikes were BMW's, swore I would never ride anything else...that is until I rode a Road King. There's no looking back now. You can go back and forth about technology, dealers, appearance etc. but the bottom line for me is just like x train wrote....which one tugs at you.

I got an '07 RK Classic. I'm very happy with it. Got it towards the end of February and I've put 5,300 miles on it so far. Been tough to do with all the rain that we've had.
