Extended Warranty - When to Buy
Do you have to purchase the extended warranty at the time you purchase your new bike? Or can you purchase anytime up to the 2 year mark?

Nope. Never read enough threads discussing commonplace mechanical issues that addressed by an extended warranty. This is my first HD and I am confident that it is a quality machine.

There may be third party warranties that you can buy after, not sure.

If you happen to finance your bike thru HD, you can get a better deal on the warranty when you finance. The price goes up with the mileage.

Talked to a friend today and general manager at the dealership said they just started a program that you could buy esp after you 2 year warranty has expired if you have your bike inspected.
To answer the original question you don't have to buy the esp at original purchase.

Read the fine print because Harley's are always being upgraded with cams or big bore kits etc & something like that could void a warranty. Just in case you might think of pumping up the power while it's under extended warranty!
