Mobil 1 20W-50 motorcycle oil at Wally Mart, $9.97, I am sure you bike will not recognize the difference!
This oil thing is all a big can of Black Magic, to many opinions and company claims, yes I do believe in the use of synthetic.

Why does synthetic oil keep going up in price along with regular oil? I can understand for gas and oil goes up (dont agree), but why synthetic? Its all man made right?

Can't find 20 50 Mobil1 locally, I live in the backwoods of Louisiana. I run mobil1 in both of my trucks.

I just thought it was outrageous to jump up in price that much.

Heard many times that is true of dino oil (undisputed) but I'm not sure that is true of synthetic.

Not really.Group 3 syn is oil that has hydrogen bubbled through it to remove impurities. Examples of group 3 oils can be found as castrol syntec, all mobil 1 products other than the extended performance line and the advanced fuel economy line. Group 4 and 5 syns oil is derived from The crude and is broken down to it's more basic elements then put back together without any impurities or unnecessary compounds.
Brands such as red line are group 5,amsoils offerrings are group 4 except tge oem line and the XL line.
Real group 4 and 5 oils are super expensive. Expect to pay at least 10-15 dollars a quart. Group 3 is much cheaper to produce and can be found for under 10 bucks a quart.
I hope I helped clear it up a bit.
In north American the term synthetic doesn't really have anything to do with the oil,its a marketing term. In Europe a labelled syn has to be minimum group 4. That's why you will see oils with "synthetic technology" and similar marketing crap on some bottles.
If you see bottles market "European car formula" they are and have to be minimum group 4 base as well
