I almost screwed up, just a reminder.
Hey guys, just a gentle reminder. I almost screwed up big time the other day. I've got lots of years of experience, classes, and I realize the importance of constantly scanning and avoiding "Tunnel Vision", but....
I was going about 50 mph on a 2-lane highway. I was coming up to a busy intersection with Stoplights.
I had the Green light, but there were a lot of things going on at once at the intersection from the left and right.
As I was going thru the intersection, I kept scanning left and right, cause I perceived that to be the biggest threat.
Made it thru ok, but didn't notice the traffic in front of me had come to an abrupt stop because of a critter walking across the road up ahead.
So, bottom line, I was paying so much attention to my left and right, I stupidly lost track of what was happening in front of me.
I locked it up and stopped in time, no harm done.
Don't make the same dumb mistake I did

Yep Spring is here and more and more bikes on the road. Cant wait to hear the 5 oclock news for the next month or so relating about the motorcycle accidents.
Point is that for most of us, we have been off our bikes for several months and are eager to start riding again. We dont have our "bike legs" back quite yet and all the more reasons to be safe and take it easy. I know for myself on the few rides I have had the last couple of weeks, it IS an ADJUSTMENT that does take some time.
End of Public Service Announcement - Gone riding!

Yep- that makes good sense- don't skip what's dead ahead as you do the side checks. This is an important thing to remain aware of. I'm glad you posted this thread.
