Yup....I call BS. Why go into a parts store because you are low on oil and then buy Marvel Mystery oil? Because it says OIL on the label? Not saying MMO has no good effects....but would not add it just because you are a guart low.

Call BS if you like. I don't care. My bike--- I'll put whatever I want to in the crank case for any reason. Why should it bother you what I buy? My question was if anybody has used it with good or bad results in their Harley. If I add it because it is a GUART low, that is my business.

I use a couple of capfuls in the gas tank occasionally. I have thought about adding it to the crank but concern for diluting the oil and reducing the viscosity has prevented me from trying it.

If my math is right you are at 12.50% Marvel Mystery oil which reduces the viscosity from 20W 50 to 17.50W 43.75 - probably not that bad but something to consider.

If I were to do it and I think I will one day, I would do it towards the end of an oil change, riding, say 50 miles, let it sit overnight and another 50 miles the next day, let it sit overnight again, then change the oil.

Also I don’t think there is anything wrong with topping off Amsoil with another comparable oil like Mobil 1 V-Twin which is commonly stocked at Walmart.

Sounds as if your engine is starting to use some oil, I would NOT put in any oil additive which will effectively lower your oil viscosity.

Hee Hee...The Indy shops have a future line of customers in waiting! Worn out valve guides and out of round cylinders.

If you say it is your business, and don`t want opinions, don`t post.

What do you need to clean out of the motor?

Modern engines are clean as a whistle inside, even after hundreds of thousands of miles, as long as the oil is changed on schedule.

I started using 1/5 oz per gallon in my Sportster gas tank years ago. Later when doing some work on the motor, (Nothing related to MMO) my wrench noticed how clean the carb was, with 50k + miles on it.

I still use it in my Heritage gas tank.

i added about a cup of MMO to the oil tank of my 85 once and it made the lifters kind of noisy. i'll add it to the gas on my 76 shovelhead tho.
