Incidentally, if you have a cigar lighter on your bike, all you need is a double male-ended wire and you can charge your battery off of a car's or other bike's cigar lighter. Will take a tad longer than cables, but you wouldn't need to take anything off.

A coupla weeks ago I left the ignition on, so the lights and the heated grips killed the battery. I ended up calling the RAC and the guy that turned up was very confident that the combination of a 300kg EFI bike with belt drive would ensure that it was never going to be bump-started. Mind you, I didn't even have enough charge to prime the fuel system!

Hell no!!!! I have my wife do that!!! We were out riding one day and stopped to get gas. Her Sporty fired right up but my Dyna would barely click. Luckily the gas station had a bit of a slope and just a 20 or 30 foot push got me going. Popped the clutch in 4th gear I think.

We had a Pinto that was like that till I finally changed the starter . . . .

I've seen it done -- two guys pushing a bagger, bike in second, fired right up. First gear didn't work.

I guess you can call that progress, lol . . .

I see it as building a dependency on the support system , the dealer .

Nope just a very well tuned and maintained scoot that's all . If your gonna play with these kinda toys you better know what your doing of have a very good buddy who does .

Most guys attack a kicker like they are trying to stomp something to death , all your doing like that is breaking **** and injuring yourself . All the motor has to do is turn over not spin it 50 rpm like most think . Bike has the right ignition system and tuned properly for the displacement & compression it will fire . On a shovel when they get big you better know how .

Did it on my 08 Sportster 1200c once when I left the light on when I went in an accessory store. I had tried to explain to my local dealer 3x the battery was bad and under warranty. Last time they charged me for checking and said it wasn't bad. I will never go to Cycle Stop in Rochester again. Went into another area Dealer "Harv's" and they tested and replaced it under warranty. They have my business for life. Don't think I will try doing it with the bagger. Sportster was done in higher gear... 4th or 5th with a downhill run.
