Scratch,
No, he's right for the signature card. For regular purchases, $1 equals 1 point, and 2500 points equals a $25 gift card. But for gas/restaurants/hotels, every $1 equals 2 points. So $500 in gas would equal 1000 points, or the equivalent of $10. Purchases at HD are worth 3 points per dollar.
I spend about $400 a month in fuel, so I earn about 800 points a month for that...
The also don't have to do individual $25 gift certs any more. The last time I cashed in my points I got 1 certificate for the full amount (several hundred dollars) rather than several $25 certificates.

I use mine every chance that I get. I don't know what the interest rate is because I pay it off every week. They have a handy mobile app that allows access to your account. The points do add up quickly. I use it to pay for all fuel, lodging, phone and insurance bills, anywhere that I can pay with a card and it doesn't cost me extra.

I've had mine since about 2004 I think. I've never paid a cent of interest on it, and I don't care what the interest rate is on any card, because I always pay my balance every month. The points do add up quickly. I have no complaints with the card or U. S. bank. I use the card for almost all big purchases because you can almost never get a cash discount, so why not use the card and get some chrome cash. Hell - I even charged about $7,500 for my father's funeral a few years ago.

I tried doing that when my wife baught her bike, but the dealer would not take credit card for more than a couple hundred bucks. I've also tried it at car dealers, and have never found one that would let me put the price of the car on any credit card. Maybe I need to shop around for different dealers???
