I had a couple pair pair of HD boots because of side zips. (junk china sh%t) and the don't last, you can't have them resoled. couldn't find a pair USA made with zips, so I bought a pair of Chippewa boots, took them to a cobbler had zippers put on,also had the heel reduced. wow is a I can say. what a nice boot. great fit & comfortable
USA baby!!!!!!!! $200 for the boot, $60 for zips !

I bought the HD Riddick and they are the most comfortable boots I have owned. They are made by wolverine. If you get a chance you should try a pair on. They have a side zipper that makes lacing them every time unnecessary. Hard to beat for the price (the zipper in the picture is a vent)

If a boot doesnt fit like its broke in when you put it on dont buy it

I have these boots:

Great boot, I found them very narrow though and ordered a wide size. I also put in some superfeet insoles. At $200 I don't just wear them on the bike, I wear them all around, with the jeans down they look like just normal boots.

While I would say they're comfortable, they aren't tennis shoe comfortable. If you're looking for tennis shoe comfort these wouldn't be a good pick.

Redwing 968, made in the usa, and hurt like hell for the first 5 days of wearing them, but by the end of 5 days, the insole will mate to your feet and you wont want to take them off

WESCO

You buy them once.

They can be recrafted to new condition when you wear them out.

I now have been wearing Carolina boots. I have had Redwings and Chippewa in the past. I found the Carolina boots on sale at a small store near my home. I had checked on line and found the store price was within $10 of my cheapest on line price. Anyway, you will need to try them on and walk around with them to decide. At least go to a shoe store near you and find what fits in several brands. I do like logger boots to be more flat footed on my bikes. The vibrahm soles also help the boot last longer. Inserts can not only help customize your fit, but can add vibration dampening if you are riding with pegs.
