I keep thinking leather might look funny with it. Any Ideas? I mean of course I have to look cool riding down the road well being safe as well. Anyone out there use alternatives to leather and feel they are still safe?

My first thought was brown leather

The textile jackets are nice but for protection you really need the armor inserts which in my opinion suck, on my belstaff I only use the elbow pads. With the right venting they can be a very versatile jacket for all conditions.

How's the fit on these? My leather jacket fits good, but if I eat a large dinner, I have trouble zipping it up, haha.

Now for issue of a vest to go along with all the other stuff. You could get an old flack jacket at the surplus store.
