Default air horn questions

Yesterday I had too close a call with some young punk pulling into my lane. Stock horn did nothing and neither did my pipes after revving the throttle (bike is loud without baffles). I decided on finally getting and air horn and after searching it looks like for the money the Wolo is a good buy. According to my search ad 30 amp relay is needed. Does the Wolo come with it or will I need to get that separately? I've also never wired in a relay before so help would be apprecieated.

It comes with it..........

They will work fine as a plug and play unit if you replace the stock horn, it's just you have no cow bell anymore.

I have one on my bike and it can be heard in town and at stop lights with no problem. Not sure at highway speeds as I have never had to use it yet in that setting.

I don't have the Wolo, but an air horn is a must have for safety., as you have discovered. My Authentic Air Horn (Meister Industries) uses a 20 amp relay. Have you received your Wolo yet? The relay may be inthe installation kit. These airhorns draw a lot of current, so a relay is a must. I did a lot of research before purchasing my A/H. Some air horns say they are "plug and play" which mean they utilize the existing circuitry and horn button. You will either get a weak horn tone and/or fry the stock HD horn button/circuitry drawing too much current through it. The best systems all use relays. Rivco, Howards Horns, the Mini Beast and the Authentic Air Horn were the three that seemed to stand out in my research as the very best. But certainly any air horn is a vast improvement over stock.

If your Wolo hasn't arrived yet, the wiring instuctions should tell you about a relay even if one is not provided. Use one by all means.

I put MetalArts twin trumpet air horn on my FLH & it was a plug & play. Not to mention it works like a charm!

I bought the Harley Deluxe air horn. Not sure I would do it again. Sounded a LOT LOUDER in the store than on the bike and its plastic. Replaced it once already under warranty.

If you like the look of exposed trumpets you can't go wrong with Howards Horns. Very loud.
