Safest Helmets?

Safest Helmets?
I'm looking into purchasing a FF helmet for my commuting during morning and afternoon heavy traffic times. In the past I've worn a half lid, but with more and more people on the road and less attention being paid I'd like to go FF.
I've done a lot of forum searching and found many helmet threads, most deal with a specific model or feature, or degrade into the helmet/no helmet argument.
I'm looking for input on the safest helmets on the market. I've seen a few posts that had links to or information about testing results on multiple brands of helmet, but can't locate them myself.
What are the safest FF helmets that are out on the market?

Any non-modular, Snell + Dot. Doesn't matter what the brand is, the rest is all marketing and fluff.
It's like anything else, you sacrifice comfort and mobility for protection...the less of one, the more you can have of another.
If I were you, I would look into the brands used by racers, like the guys in the European moto circuit on Superbikes. At 150-200 mph, I bet they are wearing some pretty hard core gear...if that's the extreme you want to go too.

DOT + Snell and you are good. I would concentrate on the fit, that is the real key. The fit of helmets has gotten so much better in the last 10 - 15 years but it still pays to try on a variety of different brands. I would go to a big cycle supply house or big dealer (probably metric) and try some on. If it doesn't fit right you won't want to wear it.

The absolute best on the planet for safety and comfort is a Simpson Bandit..
I have several helmets.
Three Harley (HJC)
Two Bell Custom 500 (I like to collect the limited editions)
One carbon fibre shorty DOT peanut shell which I wear around town, a Simpson shorty and the best, a Simpson Outlaw Bandit.

Yep, there are a lot of top quality brands and models to choose from. Go try some on because there's quite a bit of difference in fit. A good fit is very important.
Scorpion fits me great. They have fog free easy to change visors, changeable liners, and they're a great price.
Good luck and have fun, Mark H.

This is from the UK government. Europeans take motorcycle safety a lot more seriously than Americans. The SHARP Test is a better gauage of safety than Snell. You can find SHARP reviews at: http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/
Coincidentally, Shoei has the highest rated line of models. I have the Qwest and it is a fantastic helmet.
