Default new 2into1 pipes

I'm looking to get new 2 into 1 pipes on a budget of 600 or 700 $. Its for a 2010 ultra, I haven't decided on black or chrome yet does anyone know how well the black holds up over time? Vance and Hines has a set for about 650 and American Freedom also has a set I've been looking at for about the same money. also open to other suggestions?

I went with a D&D Fat Cat. I like it you can get it in black or chrome.

I just bought a black Thunderheader from American Classic Motors on ebay. I think they had them listed for $629 shipped. I offered them $550 and they countered $600. I accepted and just put them on so I do not know how well the black holds up over time. The black is not a gloss black and is supposedly ceramic. They sure sound and perform good. They were easy to install except for seating the new gaskets. Removing the old stock headers and pipes was the difficult part.

Good luck getting a D&D FC for 6-700 bucks new. Mine was real close to a grand. I just sold my FatCat for 200 because I HATED the sound of it. A lot of people like em...a lot of people don't!

Fit/finish on these are...well lets just say not up to what everyone else is putting out. Suppose to make good numbers on the dyno though. Like the FatCat.

My personal choice for 2:1 pipe is the V&H Propipe. Looks great (to me) , quality is also great and it's the best sounding 2:1 I've ever heard(V&H Big Radius a close 2nd). Plus mine brand new was less than 550 bucks.

As for the question of how black pipes holding up...I had 10k miles on my BigShots and the finish was perfect.

Take a look at of Frank Drago's pipes.
http://www.dragosbikeworks.com/

Beside the fact that he is a member of this forum. He makes greats pipes.

I have his Dragula 2:1 (see my sig pic) Giant 2:1 pipe, ceramic coated inside and out, 3 step header, equal length pipes, with heat shields and Frank guarantees it for 2 years.

You just can't go wrong....

I've been eyeballing the Freedom Performance Union 2-1 exhaust...eBay had a set one time for little over $5-bills...I should've hit the button.

D&D gets a ton of press, but IMO it's just too much $$$ (paying for name). I'd have to say V&H ProPipe is a close second on my watch list.

Probably couldn't go wrong w/either - good luck!

I have always been a Thunderheader fan myself. However as of late I have heard alot about the Propipe, and I think I am even more impressed and leaning towards the Dragos Dragula pipe.
Frank will give you your money back if any other pipe in its class beats his pipe on the dyno. Im not sure exactly what "in its class" means, if thats all 2-1's or more specific but thats a pretty bold statement to make and back up.
Id lean towards Dragos, Thunderheader and Propipe in that order.

V&H Pro Pipe. It's the quality, performance and looks.

My 2 cents
