I vote for U to save a little more and then buy..

It'll save U even more in the long run. 13 bikes in my life time and I've never made payments on any of them..

You got that kinda moxie why not just get a loan for X dollars and then go bike shopping with green backs in hand , prices will vary when you wave all that smelly money at people . Some bright peeps in here but sometimes not very smart ones about how the world works .

Jesus some of these interest rates you guys are talking are stupid, to each there own, but in this house toys are bought cash. Always held true to that rule, I drove a $700 car for 4 years so I could buy my first "expensive" bike. 1998 Suzuki TL1000R brand new, there was no better feeling than paying and knowing I owned the bike and didn't have to worry about payments.

What are you 5 years old? Did it say "The Church of Harley Davidson" on the door? $399 is less than the $500 industry average car dealers charge to flip the paperwork on a lease car to a 3rd party.

I agree, you're pretty much going to pay a $300 - $400 doc fee at any dealer if unless you have cash to pay for the bike.

399 sounds reasonable to me as well, Just explain what you want to do to the seller and ask to split the 399 with him. 198 each. Bet he will jump all over it if he wants to sell. I agree that the 800 is out of line.

Dealer 1 "only" charges their standard $399 document fee to process the paperwork.

Dealer 2 charges $500 to participate in the program PLUS their standard $399 doc fee.

The only reason I was considering Harley financing is I figured there was less chance of a screwup in transferring the title if I borrowed from Harley to pay off Harley.

And I know that the dealership not only makes profit on every loan they write ... but my excellent credit helps them with EBS when they want to qualify someone with a lower score.

Both dealers lost their shot. I'll take a cash advance on my 0% credit card and pay the 5%, or take a personal loan from my credit union first.

And I'll buy the pipes and bags I want to add on off ebay.

Or maybe I'll just keep shopping and saving.

People really worry about this? and takin a cash advance on a CC??? No cc offers 0% on a cash advance. You will be paying over 15% on that.

I just bought my 04 Fat Boy through my credit union and got it at 3.5% interest and my credit aint that great due to a prior divorce and drinking binge right afterwords. I'm getting it back straight now luckily. Thank the Lord.
