I say that the judge abused his power. He looks snug as a bug on the back of that bike. Holding you like that, he's not going anywhere. Hell when i was his age i was sitting on my dads lap driving his pick up home from the bar. Amazingly we're both still alive.

Another case of other people "That know better" trying to raise our kids. It's your faimly. I see no saftey reason why you can't take your son riding with you if you want to take him riding. We all know the risk every time we go for a ride. If I can live with, what might happen, "It ain't no one else's worry".

This one divides even the cops on HDF. I'll be honest, I'd have probably written that ticket too.

I rode on the tank of my uncles bike at less than 5. But that was the early 70's before the government was involved in every aspect of our lives.

Oh, really??? And you are prepared to qoute the traffic law I violated (I was in illinois at the time). Are you prepared to back up your assertion, Einstien?

It cracks me up with all the people that condemn you for putting your child at risk. Those are the same namby pambies that would condemn you for giving your child a smack on the butt if they were being really bad in the store. They come up to you and treat you like your some kind of child beater for one smack on the butt to put him in line. I say, go get yourself some bolt on foot pads that you can add and remove from your guards and then see if you can find that same CHP and ride in front of him with your son and dare him to stop you and give you a ticket again.

Without getting into parental rights.....I think 5 is too young also. I don't think a kid that young has the wherewithall to know what to do in an emergency. Most kids that age run to the wrong base in a T-Ball game, how can they possible know what to do on a motorcycle? I just wouldn't chance it. Also, I don't think I understand how a vehicle driving behind you is to supposed to provide any safety other than being so close it would prevent anyone else from tailgating.
I'm not necessarily with the judge but I do think 5 is too young.

I was racing motocross at 6 and the kids today start even younger. You would be surprised what some kids can do on a motorcycle.
