Counter Balanced "B" Engine
#11
fair enough, this is my first winter owning a Harley, it seems like the longest winter ever...

My question is why doesnt Harley counter-balance ALL the engines? Wouldnt a counter-balanced engine be even more smoother in a rubber-mounted frame? [/quote]
no need to counter balance a Dyna or a Touring, nobody is complaining about that. I paid for a Harley, i want the Harley feel , not a Honda feel...

Have to admit I went from a 1200 Sportster with all kinds of rock and roll to this Heritage and wasn't sure if I liked that B engine or not. But, I tell you, after some 8000 miles now I wouldn't trade her for anything.

Hear ya on the longest winter...the "honda feel", lol. The last bike I had was a VTX1300 that thing vibed like crazy, compared to my RK.

Ditched my Softail Deluxe cause I couldn't stand the "B" motor. Congested, mechanical, noisy, and smooth as a Honda. Love my Dyna shaker...no thanks HD...I'll stick with the "A" engine or an Evo anything....

First of all, I truly respect the opinions of everybody on this forum even though I don't necessarily agree with them all the time. Having said that, I had a Honda Shadow 1100 for many years. Believe me, my Heritage is no Honda. I can tell that I must be really getting old. Why? Because I really like and I'm really enjoying my smooth ride!

If you haven't figure it out from the replies here is what I believe is the answer to your question.
The MOCO will introduce changes on one model and see how well they are received. They don't want to **** off the vocal customer base that also happens to be their best advertising.
As you can see from earlier replies these people feel pretty strongly about the vibes of the engine. I myself have no complaints about it.
I haven't spent much time on a Softail but the few I've ridden I could feel the buzz in the grips. I hardly notice the vibration on my Ultra other than at idle and I don't spend much time with it idling.
