Re-Registering A California Purchased Bike From Oregon
Looking to buy a bike that was originally purchased in San Jose, California in 2005. The current owner has the bike registered in Oregon through his business address, although he lives in L.A. The bike has clear title, and current registration. Does anyone have experience with this, and will I have trouble registering it here in Cali.?

It's a 2005 with 10k, and the info on the site pertains to vehicles that were originally purchased out of state, then brought in....nothing about ones that were bought in Califirnia and registered out of state then brought back in. It is a 50 state bike, so emissions isn't an issue here, which seems to be the sticking point when registering one here.

Figuring you are probably referring to a newer bike...
Needs to have 7500 on it to avoid the Kali emission sh*t (assuming it was removed).
Will have to be inspected by the DMV. They will look at odometer to determine if the milage you write down is correct.
They will inspect the motor number, and also make sure it matches the frame.
They will check the foil on the down tubes (one is for the vin, the other is the emission sticker.
And depending on the DMV person they may check to make sure that the lights, turn signals and brake light s are functional

I don't think there's going to be a problem either...no inspection or anything like that because it's a certified California bike, just not sure how much that's going to add..if any...to registering it in back here in California. The bike is in San Diego, ALWAYS parked and operated in California it's whole life, just registered in Oregon.

Why did the bike get registered under a business address in WA if it's always been here in CA? Just wondering because the answer may be something that you've got to change to register the bike here again in CA. I don't see why it would hurt to ask the guy that question before you buy the bike.
