Dirt bikes, yeah, all the time. My street bikes, when riding with friends I have traded bikes a couple of them a few times. Never felt right.
With my biz partner, we trade all the time, but we like how we have our personal bikes set up, so it never lasts more than a little while and we both want to get back on our own rides. lol

That is a good question. Over the years I have switched bikes with a lot of riders, You ride mine , I ride yours. My Dad would toss me the keys and I tossed keys at my Son. I let friends test drive a lot of my bikes.
To allow another person to take my bike for the day? Hmm, he would have to be a real good friend, yeah take it , be careful and don't beat the **** out of it. I do have insurance.
If your friend is really considering buying a Harley, he should put out a few bucks and ride the bike he wants. Heck test rides are free, or rent a bike for a day.
I recommend you trade bikes and ride with he and his wife for a hundred miles. Then it is up to him to make a decision. Help him make a deal and then you have another Harley riding buddy.

My uncle (who taught me how to ride as a little kid) took my Springer for a ride when I got it, and one of my riding partners who is good on a bike took my Lo around the block. Nobody else has ever ridden my bikes.

Years back to my brother from another mother, said he was going on a short trip. 4 hours later he came back, he had fun, no damage done. Wouldn't do this for only best buds, all else can kiss off!! He would do the same for me.
