Looking forward to going down. In your opinion, what's the coolest events?

 

I been there 4 times for bike week...3 times before they stopped bike week and once after they brought it back....Needless to say we are not going back...It's about a 1/3 of the size it used to be...Not a whole lot of vendors or events....we did like it smaller but it's still not the same as it used to be...we probabley will not be back for at least a few years...

 

Do some research on the forums....seems to me I've heard bad things about that event.

 

Its def. Scaled back.went last may wasnt bad.hotels are cheep trying to get people down there.got to demo 5 different hds..no line at the demo trailer

Myrtle Beach HD eff'ed up majorily this year when it "extended" the Bike week from a 7-10 day event to 17 days....Most people are still going down for the traditional time, which is the 2nd weekend to the 3rd weekend in May.
There is the Atlantic Beach "black" bike week that immediately follows the "new" dates. Having the extended bike week gives the area no break for 24 days.
That said, MB HD's has pissed off the County Gov't officials who now want to deny any vendor permits for the entire month of May. Things were just starting to build back up and then someone has to go off and do something stupid.

 

Have they stopped harrasing riders yet at the city limit sign with exhaust noise compliance roadside test?

 

kinda political battle between myrtle beach harley davidson and the event coordinators and merchants for myrtle beach bike week. some are boycotting the harley davidson dealer affiliated events and harley davidson dealer is laying claim to 72 years of sponsoring event when there was no dealer in SC until 1948. So If you go to bike week it will be a lot of fun down at murrels inlet as always but if you come to cruising the coast that the dealer is sponsoring your going to be neck deep in sport bikes and parking lot fights at burger king and kentucky fried chicken cause you were lookin at someone's Ho.

 

Seriously thinking about going in 2013, but will only be there for the original bike week dates.
