Who's satisfied with factory bikes?

In my opinion the possibility of personalization is a key Harley feature. It's part of the fun of owning a Harley.
But unless you really know what you are doing, I'd leave the engine as it is, apart from very simple mods.... as fun is riding, not having the bike towed away...

I left my motor stock. I just do preventive maintenance. I hate riding with someone who keeps breaking down. I rode with a guy. Every stop he was tightning something. Replacing fuse.
Im in process of replacing all the polished aluminum with chrome on my superglide.

I've added a few items, mainly storage and organizers. Left the engine (including intake and exhaust) stock. I'm very happy with it.

I was pulling off reflectors and the passenger pillion as soon as the dealer delivered it to my house. It hasn't stopped since. I just can't leave well enough alone. Now I need to put my focus on getting my Sportster back together...always need to wrench on something.

The exhaust was done by the previous owner. If it ever craps out, I'd replace it with stock exhaust. I changed the seat out because I'm a little on the short side for the bike. The rest of plans are mostly functional changes. The wife wants a tour-pak with a cushy backrest and maybe the engine guard bag that holds a water bottle.

I don't like to mess with the lines of a bike as I think, with a few exceptions, you can't improve on the looks of a stock Harley. I change only the seat, as I like a real low profile seat & Harley seats are ugly from the factory. I also replace the blah, plain parts, like shift pegs, pedals, levers, grips, etc. And if some part can be replaced with a chrome one, I'll do that, but will NOT put a chrome cover over a functional part. I always keep the stock bars;I'm one of the few who likes most of them. I think Harley factory paint is the best on the planet, so I never touch that. Race tune with pipes & A/C, and I'm done.

I've done some serious customization to 2 of my Harleys but I think I'm done doing that. The Lowrider will get a couple of minor things, but that's it.
You never get your money back on what you do, and a lot of times you'll buy a bunch of crap and decide you don't like the look (or the bike itself) when you're done.
So to answer your question, I'm happy with my FX pretty much as it sits

I agree, but still the first thing I did to our 07 and maybe my last bike. Was to get her running cooler and did the Pipes, A/C, with SERT and dyno at the 1k service.
Then added some chrome I wanted, then did the cams at 15k to cool her down and make her run even better.
Then some more chrome and a bunch of leather work I did myself.
I chose some simple bolt-in cams, didn't mess with anything else with the motor, and have ridden 36k trouble fee miles in 5yrs.
As U IMO that put my mind to ease every times I fire her up and leave the garage.
