Welcome to West Virginia!

I was born and raised in Parkersburg and in the early 70's rode my Sportster all over the state. Moved in 1975 and haven't had my bike with me when I visit family, but certainly plan on renting a bike the next time I'm there and "rediscover" my home state!

I rode there about 3 years ago. Beautiful riding scenery, mountains, and roads. I just rode around and then after awhile turned on my gps to find the way home. I remember visiting a civil war park - that was really neat.

I spent a lotta time in my youth on my cousin's farm in Tunnelton, in Preston county, so I know the area well. Best people in the whole country TO THIS DAY,beautiful scenery, and rt. 50 from Romney to Clarksburg has gotta be my all time favorite road. Never done it on a bike, but have driven it a hundred times. Lots of incredible mountain scenery, history, Americana, the Famous Horseshoe Curve & Hairpin Turn, and don't forget Cool Springs Park in Rowlesburg--best burgers & milkshakes in the state! Morgantown is great for testing your torque on the hills, and when you get tired of that you can ride around on the PRT. If it weren't for the cold, I would leave this tropical hellhole & move there.
John Denver wasn't totally accurate--W. Va. IS heaven!

I'm guessing "smooth" isn't what he meant by "best." I notice the roads get a lot less smooth when I cross the border into W.V. but they also make the Dragon look like an interstate in Kansas in many places.

I've got family that lives in Marietta and Parkersburg. That part of the country is sweet if your into outdoors stuff! Stuff's really affordable there too when compared "hot spots" like New York, Miami, LA, etc. I haven't rode my pod racer there yet, but I agree, it would be a great place to ride.
