Biggest difrence between Bikers of the 70's and these "Bikers" we got now..
#644
Biggest difference I've seen is the older guys don't try and complicate things like most of these guys do now. Whatever your wearing is riding gear. No need to go to the closet and pick out an outfit to go pose at bike night. Whatever oil is on the shelf at the parts house is what they use.As long as it's slippery,it will get the fricken job done . A road trip consisted of a general direction to point the bike and they go.Most people now seem to think they need to over analyze and micro manage every god damn thing, sad really.I never once hear them talk about how to ride this way or that, just ride.No Rider classes or finding the proper apex, they just ride the damn thing.Quit thinking and just go for a damn ride.
and THAT is how it is done
I've got 5 years in at my job... which means 3 weeks holidays. 2 weeks in one chip... where you goin? dunno.. I'll know when I get there... who you goin with?... nobody.. I'm just going for a damn ride

Story of my life...A day late & a dollar short. &...Better'n nothin. Seen the college
kids & the hippies in the late '60's runnin amok & wished I was just a little older. Seen the
bikers & great bikes & that life goin on...At least I didn't have to contemplate gettin my
face blown off in VN or goin to Canada. (I woulda went to VN).
Everything went to **** in the '80's. I blame MTV.

I'm a younger rider, but I was around this style of life for all of my years with my parents and step parents both. From what I can gather, back then it was more of a tight nit group. Society was still looking down on bikers and people associated with them. You had to know how to fix your own **** to make it to the dealership to get it fixed because nobody could afford vehicles because all the money were in their bikes. Dealerships to me were a lot cooler because even the owner wanted to come down and talk rides and **** with you. Hell now that latte sucking **** won't even come to the god damn store and show his face. Now all that matters is how much money you have and how nice of a truck and trailer you have to tow your **** 50 miles up the road to park it in a parking lot. All the big rallies went from a great party, to a pissing fest between the guys who want to buy a harley or a custom with 100,000 dollars and show it off for one weekend and then never ride again. Yeah, SOA might be bad on the image and has probably generated a number of wannabes to match the number of bikers we had coming up through the 80's and 90's, but it has also helped spark the MOCO to generate more business and keep the name here in America.. It seems anymore the typical biker is more worried about what you're wearing and what you've got done to your bike.. and believe he will be the first one to talk **** to you about the old days as he sits on his laptop with his smart phone drinking a latte in the dealership cafe. I would have rather been around in the 70's than deal with the **** we have to put up with today. I really shouldn't rant when I drink beer! But yeah, from a young guy who grew up with it and is currently living it, this is how I feel.
