Biggest difrence between Bikers of the 70's and these "Bikers" we got now..

first there were "motorcyclists" they rode because it was new, fun and exciting.
Then there were "bikers". They rode because it was new, fun, exciting, their only transportation, a way of life, a great way to get *****, everyone they knew rode.
Then there were "motorcyclists" again. They rode because it was new, fun, exciting, everyone at their law firm did it, all the guys at starbucks did it (on sundays of course), it's a great way to get *****, the dealership said it would change your life.
This "lifestyle" or "hobby" or "fad" is all cyclic and the ones who ride for no apparent reason other than because it's all they want to do or know to do will always be "bikers" in my eyes. The ones who have all these other reasons "status, pride, fashion, boredom, etc" will be motorcyclists.

Back around 2005 or so I was sitting on a carpeted floor in a Border's bookstore for about a couple of hours. I was reading a book authored by Sonny Barger, reading it page by page, chapter after chapter. I came to a part where he wrote that he at one point seriously or semi-seriously contemplated riding a BMW. Now I don't know what decade he mulled that idea over in his head, meaning I don't know if he was considering switching over to a BMW in the 70's, 80's or 90's. I won't say that I didn't believe him. I won't say that you can't believe everything you read. I'll just say that I really didn't know how to take that statement, I supposed that it might have been a bit of a "tounge in cheek" type statement. At the time, in 2005, it didn't make complete sense to me. What he wrote about the BMW-thing was a bit ambiguous, a little incomprehensible. I mean, c'mon, the HA riding around on BMW's? That seemed a little weird or something. But after reading your statement and others like it, 7 years later... I get it, finally, I think. So it appears that there was no brand discrimination or steel prejudice back then like there is now. As an example, if you go to YouTube you'll read statements from loyal HD riders spewing mass hatred laced with venom toward Victory riders and vice versa. It took a long time to read through this thread so I think I'll retire might as well since I didn't get paid to read the damn thing.
So who cares.

He wrote that in a book I glanced through called" The Life and Times of Sonny Barger and the Hell's Angels Motorcycle Club' and there are pictures of him on the internet riding a Victory Vision. I didn't read the whole book, I just remember seeing that in there when I looked at it in the book store. About a week ago though one of the members here who had more inside knowledge gave a fascinating perspective of this. I won't try to quote him because I'll probably screw it up but the gist of it was that it wasn't just about quality like Barger says in the book.

Ya I only have one friend! The word "friend" is one that used pretty loosely nowadays. I don't think it's the bikers of the 70's that were different. It's the people in general that were different. People these days are fake as f*** and aren't worth the powder it would take to blow them straight to hell! They're a bunch of TV movie watching drama queens with nothing but spare time on their hands! I spend time on here every day simply because there's snow on the ground and I learn a lot of **** here. Or I go to my ONLY friend's house to help him with his old superglide if he's working on it. People just aren't of the same quality anymore. Not like it used to be.

In post #100 located on page 10 of this thread dickey referred to "blues" as being loose code for Viagra. I don't know if dickey is right or wrong. I'm confused I don't know what "blues" is code for I thought it might be loose code for Adderall.
