Hey guys been reading all evening for the most part about helmets. I live in Texas and not required to wear one and dont. My wife on the other hand wants to wear one. I plan to do some traveling this year that will take us through helmet territory. Im looking for bare bones (enuff to keep the cops away) half helmets, skid lids whatever you wanna call them.

I like the novelty looking skids and if I could get away with a DOT sticker on back I would but a little worried since hearing of stories of getting bike towed. Yes I know the ramifications of wearing a mislabeled novelty and dont need to hear about them.

I would like some pics of an actual head in these DOT helmets that claim to be the thinnest. I looked at all them online but without a noggin in them its hard to tell. I DO NOT want a visor on it, no German stuff either. Just a DOT, flat black or carbon half helmet. Read light, comfy, DOT, thin, dont pull on my neck.

 

Good luck...As a non-warer but used in MI. Never a thing above. MI sucks for helmet laws.

 

Hmm, yeah Im not seeing anything too promising. I did see a guy on here in one helmet post and I believe he had a Bell XTS or something like that and didnt look too bad.

i have 2 helmets from www.carbonfiberhelmets.com that are really low profile and DOT but i heard they went outta business...maybe there are some out there online

 

I bought one of the Harley Hybrid lightweight helmets earlier this year. Definitely the lightest and most comfortable DOT I've had. Never really cared about what it looked like, but the wifey said it didn't look "as bad" as the usual mushroom caps.

so far Ive read 45 pages. There is that Jarz company in Canada that makes a nice one and then the ultra low pro Carbon Outlaw. BUT on leatherup.com that Outlaw AX300 is outa stock. Seems that right before they went outa stock they were selling the cheap carbon in its place which is not NEAR as low pro as the more spendy one. Found some on Ebay but they want $115 shipped for them. Sent them a message to see which version it was.

 

Take that back the ad I found on Ebay was from Google and is no longer active......Hmm.

 

tennessee will not permit a novelty skid w/dot sticker on back--you'll be lucky to ride 3 miles past the state line!!!!
