Helmet Question #11019....need pics!!

I got a Vega half helmet. It has the minimum 1" styrofoam insulation that is required for DOT certification. I got mine a size small and carved out the styrofoam to fit me. Reinstalled the inside liner. You have all the stickers inside and out you need and it fits better. Just an idea.

I have noticed the local dealership has a lot of half helmets for sale so why not go by the dealer (HD and others) and try on some half helmets. They will have a mirror so you can see how disgusting (or pretty) you look in it.
I have an old Harley half helmet made in the USA by Simpson so you know it is old. It does not look too bad and I have been carrying it with me on out of state trips (as well as winter Texas rides) for about 15 years I guess. It is DOT approved and I even recently wore it in Canada with no legal problems.

Looks similar enough, but not as expensive. Could be made by the same company...

I tried a bunch of 1/2 helmets to find the smallest, lowest profile ... never could find one I liked. The ones that I thought looked okay felt like crap on the road. Noise, sliding around, moving when you turn your head, lifting up at highway speeds ... all that was a pain.
Tried a vintage style 3/4 ... so much better. I think they actually look better too. There's 2 or 3 choices. Try one on. I ended up with the Bell Custom 500. I really like it. Yep. it's a helmet and a DOT. Gives at bit of bobble-head, but nobody will notice as much as you do.

Just called Jarz Performance up in Canada and they still have there little beanie helmet. $120 bucks + shipping. Not the cheapest but sure is the smallest so far. Very nice people. He weighed one for me while on the the phone.....1 pound, 6 oz.
He told me they had a TON of people from the states call about these and I said well your the only folks that have anything like this. He said he didnt know why because they get them from a major manufacturer in the middle of the country (he didnt specify what country though and wouldnt give any more details).
