Wow, laying there for 4 hours waiting for help. Very sad.
Your not kidding
Can't understand how if the manager asked him to move the bike, how did the guy & the bike go missing for 4 hours?
Been to Mikes a few times over the years,it's a big place,,,,,but not that big.

The dealership was closed. He called the manager at home and he told him to move the bike inside.

Biggol: He wasn't a security guard per se. Mike's has their own inhouse security employees that handle many duties throughout the dealership.

Agree, terrible. But if he's not really a security guard, why was he there after hours?

As an employee he will be covered by Workman's comp. He was doing something he wasn't qualified to do, but that won't necessarily relieve the dealership of a lawsuit in this sue happy society. Only fault that the manager had, in my opinion, was assuming that the employee was qualified to move the bike.

As far as no one checking up on him, he was the security guy. He is the one that does the checking up after hours. If the manager is going to check on him every few hours, then there is no reason to have him. The manager could just check on things.

I work nights in a large gas compressor plant by myself. If my boss had to check up on me every few hours, he could just come in and work my shift.

I have had my boss call me on many occasions and tell me to do something that he forgot to tell me at shift change. He doesn't then call back to check on me. If he did I would think that he didn't turst me go get done what he told me to do.

This is a very tragic incident, but from where I'm looking, the business's responsibility is minimial at best.

Regards,

Bill

If he was an employee of the dealer, he can't sue them. His recourse is workers comp. At least that's how it works in N.Y.

I wonder why this guy wasn't given specific instructions on how to move the bike. Like, can you push it? More to this than what's written in the article.

Security closes up the dealership after all of the other employees have gone home.
