I believe the previous owner has to go back to the original dealer to get the forms for transfer. That's how they do it at my dealership. I don't think you can do it by yourself.

You no longer have to transfer the warranty. H-D simply goes by when the bike was placed in service. They look it up on computer.
Extended warranties may be different, since they are issued by an independent company.

There is a form that the dealer can fax to H-D, it is a good idea to have the bike trans. to your name, that info will go onto your SWR(bike birth cert). The warranty is based on your vin #. Extended service agreements have to be transferred into your name by the previous owner/or dealer and cost $.

Just had mine done. If it is extended warranty then the previous owner must sign the form. If it is just a factory 2 year you don't need the previous owner.

Even though the factory warranty transfers with the bike, when I bought a one year old bike from a private party my local dealer filled out a form and mailed it to the MoCo showing I was the new owner of that vin # and that put me in their computer in the event of factory recall, special publications, events, etc.

If you are talking about an extended warranty, I have transferred 3 in the past couple of years. Very easy to do.Any dealer can give you the form in which you and the previous owner must sign. Depending on how many miles are on the bike you must show proof that the maintenance has been done. The dealer must also see the bike to verify the odometer miles and VIN. At least it's free! With the OE warranty, as stated it just follows the VIN so nothing Has to be done but you will find the your local Dealers like to put you into their computer with the bike info so they can add you to thier mailing lists.
