Enjoyed a couple of rides this weekend.
After a couple of visits to the shop, my FXD is finally on the mend. I celebrated with a couple of 100+ mile rides over the weekend with friends. My dad, a new Harley owner himself, joined in yesterday. The weather in Oklahoma has been unseasonably warm for January, but the winds were in the 20 mph range yesterday. It still made for a nice ride in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.
Weather looks to be decent for next weekend too, here's to hoping the forecast holds up.

Mike, I live about an hour from the Lawton/Ft. Sill area and I usually like to ride state Highway 115 from Mt. View down to Meers Restaurant, then into the wildlife refuge. It's more of a day ride for me. If you'd like to come up and check out the area, I would suggest making it a 2 day trip. I'm not sure it would be worth the 5 hour drive just for the short ride you'd have once you get here, but you'd be riding among the buffalo, longhorn, and elk that roam the refuge, as well as the view of the Wichita Mountains. There is also a 2.5 mile ride up Mt. Scott for an aerial view you can't find anywhere else in SW Oklahoma. About an 45 minutes farther to the west is the Quartz Mtn. resort just north of Altus. There isn't a lot of riding there, but the scenery is really nice.
Here's a clip I shot in 2009 heading down Hwy 115, heading down to Meers, Wildlife Refuge, and Medicine Park.

Edited to add: To the east of the refuge is Medicine Park. Weekends are usually pretty busy with bikers and there are some nice restaurants and misc. shopping there. There is a bike store called "Chaps My ***" that sells leather and motorcycle accessories that's worth a look if you're here. The area draws a lot of bikers from the SW Oklahoma/North Texas region.
