Didn't plan on stopping when the daughter came, but made a long move when she was two, and sold the bikes, thought I'd get some different ones the next year. Ex to be objected, and was several years before getting another one. Won't have that objection any more. Now my daughter wants my Harley, and I'm the one saying, you got a kid...

Sold my bike when my son was born to help with paying bills. Then when my daughter was born things got a little tighter. Finally when my son was 6 and my daughter was 5 I bought one from a salvage yard and rebuilt it. Never really went anywhere with it just a putt around. Fell on hard times and sold it. Went another "17" years without one and that brought me to my current bike. Hope to never have to go without again. 17 years is one hell of a dry spell.

Rode until my daughter was born. Wife came home with a guitar, amp, and 10-pack of lessons and said "you always wanted to learn to play, so here, learn, and oh yeah, this would be a good time to sell the bike". I took her up on the obvious "offer", and learned to play. I was apparently a quick learner because I ended up in a couple bands and learned to play mandolin, banjo, and ukulele besides. I turned 50, daughter was 18, on a unplanned drive, pulled into a HD dealer and got back on a bike. Four years and 40,000 miles later I am one very happy musical brother. Still got the same wife though......

I would never judge anyone who stops riding because of children, neither should anyone else. I've heard of single moms who refused to get on a bike, others loved it.
Some stop for safety, some stop for financial reasons.
I also wouldn't let a motorcycle decide the fate of a (great) relationship either. Just like I wouldn't let a dog decide. Both can be loved, but both are replaceable.
